Do you not see how threateningly he was complying? It’s amazing how quickly Florida’s open-records laws go out the window when the perp’s a cop.

Maybe it was an assault toy truck?

Your use of a Toronto Police car threw me...

I’m having a hard time giving the officers the benefit of any doubt on this one. Dude (from what I saw) couldn’t have been more compliant if he tried.
Dude (from what I saw) couldn’t have explained it any better if he tried.
Glad he survived.

Spot on, Takuro.

Grabbed it hurriedly. I was being more about the flames...

This is really appalling. The article I read said that the cops rolled up with their AR-15s out. Considering Dallas and Baton Rouge, you can’t really blame them, but my God, what more do you have to do to keep them from shooting first and asking questions later? I think folks are going to have to start carrying guns so they can just go ahead and shoot themselves to avoid the paperwork. Even more appalling, if it’s even possible, is that when the man asked the cop why he shot him, the cop replied, “I don’t know.” Jeebus Christmas.

The event shows total blindness on the part of the cop(s). Blindness to anything outside their own narrow reality. I’m surprised Mr. Kinsey was only shot three times because usually once one cop starts shooting, everyone empties their magazines.

I have no idea how that cop even graduated the academy. Sure, there are people trying really hard to wish it an accidental negligent discharge, but even if that was the case... aren’t they supposed to teach cops gun safety?
![]() 07/21/2016 at 13:55 |

All of that. What about pulling up to fifty yards away and studying the situation with a binocular for a moment? Mind boggling.
![]() 07/21/2016 at 13:55 |

They weren’t blind. They could clearly see that he was black.
![]() 07/21/2016 at 13:56 |

Three shots. And bad shots at that, luckily for Mr. Kinsey. Astonishing.

Yeah, if what's reported is accurate (and we have no reason to believe it isn't), this is barely one step above the cop who shot the guy in the back in South Carolina. Short of literally detaching his own arms, I'm not sure what more this guy could have done.
![]() 07/21/2016 at 13:57 |

That’s what the cops probably showed up in. Their toy armored truck.

Don’t worry. There will probably be plenty of pictures of burning Miami PD cars soon.

Ouch.

And I’m here going “sh*t, better lock the doors”.

Accidental discharges happen to even those that handle weapons more than the police. They are unfortunate but they happen when you handle loaded weapons for a living.

Wouldn’t be surprised. And Mr. Kinsey was a social worker, not any kind of thug. I’m surprised the cops didn’t whack them both in a hail of bullets.

I thought there were limits to racism....I guess...............there arent...

I’m not entirely sure why police have AR-15s at all.

Nor idiot policing.

Or ordering the worker to walk towards them and be taken into custody before working on the (seemingly) hostile patient that was holding the object?
Isn’t that how you difuse shit?
Where is the rest of the footage?

Stop. The. Madness.

Three? The cop didn’t say it was an accident. He said he didn’t know why he shot.

Because the bad guys do.

Why diffuse when you can pretend to be John McClane from the Die Hard sequels?
![]() 07/21/2016 at 14:19 |

Are the cop rifles rigged for three-round bursts? If not, that’s three distinct trigger pulls. They’ll probably claim that he was showing restraint by only shooting him in the leg.

In a hospital bed interview the guy said he asked the officer “Sir, why did you shoot me?” and got the reply “I don’t know”.
![]() 07/21/2016 at 14:26 |
|
Why did you shoot me?
I don’t know.
Did he asked why he was detained when they cuffed him? I’m sure that would have been an interesting response.
I really don’t even know how to analyze this. How in the royal fuck do you shoot and arrest someone and have no clue why you’re doing it? Was it Skynet?

Stop. The. Stupidity.
![]() 07/21/2016 at 14:32 |

No. It’s bad shooting. When you shoot, you shoot to down the assailant. You don’t shoot to injure.

The victim’s lawyer also was reported as saying the North Miami was already working on a settlement.
![]() 07/21/2016 at 14:44 |

This is an incident that really shouldn’t of got nearly as far, but then to get worse with no response as to why.
I’m glad the guy is alive and some sort of settlement is being arranged but the damage has been done to the community, as it is nationwide.
![]() 07/21/2016 at 14:50 |

Oh no way. Unless you have a machine gun or something. I was just saying that accidental discharge do happen. Some people want this to be one. It is clearly not.

Yup.
![]() 07/21/2016 at 14:55 |

It really sucks that I’m able to say this, but in all seriousness, at least they didn’t kill him.
![]() 07/21/2016 at 15:10 |

That’s good to hear. I’d hate to hear that he’d have to spend years in court to get a proper settlement along with an apology.
![]() 07/21/2016 at 15:14 |

Absolutely. And he’s a clever, educated man and a great voice. Normally, we don’t get to hear from the victim.

Bear in mind that it’s the lawyer talking...
